PARIS, Jan 29, 2007 (AFP) - French presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy will visit London Tuesday for a working lunch with Prime Minister Tony Blair and an afternoon of engagements around the capital, his campaign team said Monday.

The interior minister and ruling party chief, who celebrated his 52nd birthday Sunday, is to visit a job-centre in Marylebone and the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall, used by prime minister Winston Churchill in World War II.

He is to have an early evening meeting with French expatriates in London before returning on the Eurostar train to Paris.

Sarkozy, who has made several visits to London, is known to admire aspects of Britain's economic system, notably its looser labour market. He has spoken of the need to lure back to France the hundreds of thousands of French men and women who have moved to find work in Britain.

A British embassy spokesman in Paris said that Sarkozy's rival in April's presidential election, the Socialist Segolene Royal, has not signalled any plan to make a similar visit.
