SW France motorway pile-up claims ninth victim

LISBON, Sept 4 (AFP) - A Portuguese man died of his injuries in hospital on Saturday, bringing to nine the death toll from a pile-up on a motorway in southwestern France six days earlier, the Portuguese authorities said.

LISBON, Sept 4 (AFP) - A Portuguese man died of his injuries in hospital on Saturday, bringing to nine the death toll from a pile-up on a motorway in southwestern France six days earlier, the Portuguese authorities said.  

Joao Rodrigues Lopes, the seventh Portuguese fatality, died in the French city of Bordeaux, close to the scene of the five-vehicle accident.   

A Frenchman and a Moroccan also died and 52 other people were injured after a Spanish coach, carrying mostly passengers from the Portuguese town of Braga, collided with a van and three cars.
