MOSCOW, June 15 (AFP) - Russia signed a reciprocal agreement Tuesday with France and Italy easing the visa regime for certain groups of people between the three countries.

The principal beneficiaries will be businessmen, students, staff of universities and culture personalities, news reports said.

The agreement foresees an increased issue of long-term, multiple-entry visas for the groups and shorter processing times.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he hoped the "important document" would lead to an easing of the visa regime between Russia and the European Union as a whole.

The agreement, which was signed Lavrov, the French Ambassador Jean Cadet, and the Italian Ambassador Gianfranco Facco Bonetti, must be ratified by Russia's parliament before taking effect.
