PARIS, Feb 14, 2007 (AFP) - Injured France captain Fabien Pelous said on Wednesday he is hopeful he will regain full fitness in time to play in this year's Six Nations tournament.

The 33-year-old lock injured an ankle on December 16 while playing for Toulouse against Llanelli in a European Cup game and has been out of action since then.

"I really hope I can make it," Pelous said of his chances. "I can't say for certain though. Things are not moving fast enough for me at the moment."

Pelous, who has captained France for the last few years, is part of coach Bernard Laporte's 39-strong World Cup squad which is preparing for the games at their Marcoussis base south of Paris.

The French have two wins out of two against Italy and Ireland and next play Wales at the Stade de France on Saturday. After that they travel to London on March 11 and finish off against Scotland in Paris on March 17.
