ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (AFP) - US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice will visit France and Britain later this week following her tour of Central Asia, her spokesman said here Wednesday.

Rice, who is in Pakistan for talks with president Pervez Musharraf in the wake of the devastating South Asian earthquake, will arrive in Paris Thursday for talks the following day, said State Department spokesman Sean McCormack.

Rice is to see French president Jacques Chirac in Paris on Friday at 10am, French officials said.

She will head to London late Friday where she will meet with her British counterpart Jack Straw as well as prime minister Tony Blair, he said.

Rice flew into the Pakistani capital from Afghanistan where she earlier Wednesday met with Afghan leaders.

She is due to meet Musharraf as well as prime minister Shaukat Aziz later Wednesday during her previously unscheduled trip to the country.

Her talks here are expected to focus on relief operations following Saturday's 7.6-magnitude earthquake which killed at least 23,000 people in Pakistan and left millions more homeless, hungry and cold.

Rice, who visited Kyrgyzstan before Afghanistan, will continue her Central Asia tour in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan and then head to Europe.
