Remy Cointreau sees rise in revenues

PARIS (AP) - French drinks company Remy Cointreau SA said Thursday revenue for the fiscal first quarter rose 6.3 percent, supported by growth in all divisions.

PARIS (AP) - French drinks company Remy Cointreau SA said Thursday revenue for the fiscal first quarter rose 6.3 percent, supported by growth in all divisions.

Remy Cointreau, maker of Remy Martin cognac and Piper-Heidsieck champagne, said revenue for the quarter ended June 30 rose to EUR 158.7 million from EUR 149 million a year earlier.

The figure beat an average of four estimates by analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires of EUR 153.9 million.

On an organic basis, Remy Cointreau said champagne sales rose by 4.4 percent to €20.4 million from EUR 19.5 million, while cognac sales jumped 11 percent to EUR 71.2 million from EUR 64.4 million, boosted by strong sales in its top-range brands in Russia and China.
