Qaeda hostages: Sarkozy vows 'all state agencies mobilised'
France will mobilise all its organs of state to ensure the release of hostages held by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, President Nicolas Sarkozy said Wednesday, according to his spokesman.
The group, the North African wing of Osama bin Laden's global Jihadist network, has claimed responsibility for last Thursday's kidnap of seven foreigners -- five of them French nationals -- in northern Niger.
"As the president just said, all the services of the state are mobilised to obtain the freedom of the hostages," French government spokesman Luc Chatel told reporters after Sarkozy chaired a weekly cabinet meeting.
