Prosecutors seek long jail terms for Pinochet officials

Paris prosecutors called Friday for sentences of up to 20 years for 14 officials linked to the late Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet on trial over the disappearance of four French citizens.

A verdict was due later Friday in the trial in absentia of the accused, most of whom were military officers during the Pinochet regime that lasted from 1973 to 1990, and who include the former head of Chile's Dina secret police.

The four French nationals disappeared between 1973 and 1975.
