Pranged A380 jumbo to return to Paris show: Airbus
European planemaker Airbus salvaged some of its wounded pride ON Tuesday when it announced that one of its star planes, the A380 superjumbo, would return to the Paris air show after an accident.
The French-based firm's A380 demonstration model missed the start of the industry's showpiece event after crashing into a structure by the taxiway on arrival Sunday at the Le Bourget aerodrome and losing a wing-tip.
But on Tuesday an Airbus spokesman told AFP the plane had flown to the company's Toulouse headquarters and been repaired overnight by a 30-strong emergency team and would now be able to take part in fly-bys.
Korean Air lent Airbus one of its newest A380s as a stand-in for the first two days of the event, but now the firm's own plane will take part in the show from Wednesday. The event will be opened to the public on Friday.
