French aviation police arrested a Polish man on the tarmac at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport on Saturday after he tried to board a US-bound flight without a ticket, an airport source said.

The man arrived in Paris on a flight from Krakow, and managed to get through security barriers and onto the tarmac by climbing over a railing.

He attempted to board a flight for Charlotte, North Carolina, but was stopped by border police and US sky marshalls.

The man, who in his twenties, was placed in custody and taken to the airport's hospital for medical tests.

All the passengers were required to disembark and repeat security procedures, and the flight took off two and a half hours later than scheduled.
