LONDON - British police said Saturday they had found a Porsche thought to belong to a businessman being hunted after the murder of his girlfriend at a five-star Paris hotel.

Officers have been looking for Ian Griffin since the body of his Polish-born French girlfriend Kinga Legg, 36, was found Tuesday at the exclusive Hotel Bristol, a favourite of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Now the car has been found in northwest England, the local Cheshire Police said in a statement.

"We can confirm that as a result of ongoing inquiries made in the Cheshire area in relation to the murder of Kinga Legg in Paris, a black Porsche vehicle has been recovered from a property in Warrington," it said, without giving further details.

Griffin, 39, is originally from Warrington and built up several businesses in the area, including tanning salons. His girlfriend ran a company which supplied tomatoes to British supermarkets.
