BRATISLAVA, Feb 19, 2007 (AFP) - French car giant PSA Peugeot Citroen's unit in Slovakia said Monday it had launched recruitment of managers to pilot production of a new model.

"We are currently in the process of recruiting the managers who will be responsible for the project concerning the new model," a spokesman for the company's Trnava plant told AFP.

He refused to give any details of the new model, for which production should be launched by 2010, or how it might be manufactured side by side with the Peugeot 207 at Trnava, near the Slovak capital Bratislava.

More information about the new model will be given next month, he said.

The current plant employs 3,300 people and last year produced more than 51,000 Peugeot 207s.

At full capacity the 700 million euro plant will turn out 300,000 cars a year.
