Paris confirms extradition of Noriega to France
The process of extraditing Panama's former strongman Manuel Noriega from the United States to France, where he is wanted for money laundering, has begun, a spokesman for the French justice minister told AFP late Monday.
"France had been notified of this extradition two weeks ago," said spokesman Guillaume Didier, in confirming the order signed earlier Monday by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
According to a source close to the case, Noriega is set to fly from Miami and arrive in France Tuesday morning.
