PARIS, Sept 27 (AFP) - The Paris Opera Ballet and Britain's Royal Ballet will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the colonial-era Entente Cordiale on Wednesday with a special joint performance in the French capital.

Britain's Prince Charles and French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin will attend the gala event, which will see 15 of the Royal Ballet's top solo dancers perform with their French counterparts at the lavish Garnier opera house.

The Entente Cordiale, signed in London on April 8, 1904, ended the historic rivalry between Britain and France, and opened an unprecedented era of cross-Channel friendship.

The two countries have marked the anniversary with a series of celebrations. Queen Elizabeth II made a state visit to France in April, and French President Jacques Chirac will make a reciprocal visit to Britain in November.

On July 14, British armed forces marched down the Champs-Elysees as the guests of honour for France's annual Bastille Day parade.
