PARIS, Dec 16 (AFP) - Paris airports were filled with an unexpected number of passengers Friday as French school end-of-year vacations began, the company managing the facilities said.

Some 146,000 passengers were estimated to have passed through Charles de Gaulle airport - 25,000 more than forecast - and 80,000 transited through Orly airport instead of the 72,000 expected, Aeroports de Paris said.

Seventy information guides wearing distinctive yellow vests were deployed to help direct passengers, while around 20 Santa Clauses lent a festive atmosphere to the airports.
