One dead, 5 wounded in Tajik tourist chopper crash

Tajik pilot died and five others, including a French and Russian tourist, were wounded in a helicopter crash.

   DUSHANBE, March 10, 2008  - A Tajik pilot died and five others,
including a French and Russian tourist, were wounded in a helicopter crash in
Tajikistan, an interior ministry official said Sunday.
   The aircraft, carrying 13 European and Russian tourists and three crew,
crashed Saturday during landing near Khorog, some 500 kilometres (300 miles)
east of the capital, the official said.
   Two other crew members and a Tajik interpreter were also wounded, the
official told AFP.
   The other tourists -- from Austria, Belgium, Britain, France, Germany,
Switzerland and Russia -- were unhurt, the official said.
   A local tourist agency had hired the helicopter from the Tajik state
airline.
