Obama to speak on Paris attacks at White House
US President Barack Obama was to make a statement Friday at the White House about a series of gun attacks and explosions in Paris that have left at least 18 people dead.
"The president was briefed on the situation in Paris by Lisa Monaco, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism," a White House official said earlier on condition of anonymity.
Earlier Friday, Obama had spoken to French President Francois Hollande by telephone to discuss his visit to Paris later this month for climate talks.
