Obama lands in Paris for D-Day anniversary
US President Barack Obama arrived in France on Thursday ahead of celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of D-Day, which will also be attended by some 20 other world leaders.
Obama will attend ceremonies on Friday with other dignitaries including Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Washington and Moscow remain locked in their worst diplomatic showdown in decades over the Ukraine crisis.
The US president landed at Orly airport outside Paris ahead of a private dinner with President Francois Hollande.
He will move onto Normandy for D-Day 70th anniversary commemorations on Friday.
Obama is not scheduled to hold a formal meeting with Putin but the pair will be involved in several ceremonies throughout the day, including a lunch produced by Michelin-starred chefs at the Chateau de Benouville.
