PARIS, Sept 29 (AFP) - Prosecutors investigating alleged financial irregularities at French first-division club Paris St Germain (PSG) were reported Thursday to have widened their enquiry to take in sports-goods giant Nike.

Legal sources said investigators were probing alleged under-the-table payments to players the company made on behalf of PSG.

An audit at Vivendi Universal, whose TV offshoot Canal Plus owns PSG, was believed to have led prosecutors to extend their investigation. The initial investigation was into transfer money being misappropriated between 1998 and 2003.
