Nigerian president to visit France

ABUJA, May 17 (AFP) - Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo will on Monday begin a four-day official visit to France during which he will meet his French counterpart Jacques Chirac, French diplomats and Nigerian officials said Tuesday.

ABUJA, May 17 (AFP) - Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo will on Monday begin a four-day official visit to France during which he will meet his French counterpart Jacques Chirac, French diplomats and Nigerian officials said Tuesday.  

Government officials of the two countries are expected to discuss bilateral and international issues during the visit, the sources told AFP.  

Since 1999, Obasanjo has visited France at least five times.  

Nigeria is one of France's leading trading partners in Africa.  

While in Paris, Obasanjo will devote a day to official functions at the UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) headquarters in the French capital, they said.
