ROME, Dec 17 (AFP) - An Italian Mafia boss suspected of involvement in a series of vendetta killings was arrested late Thursday in Paris, officials here announced Friday.

They said Vincenzo Mazzarella, 50, who heads a Mafia clan that bears his name in the southern city of Naples, was nabbed by French police and more details on the arrest were expected at a press conference later Friday.

Some 120 people have been killed in Naples since the start of the year, more than 20 of them in last few weeks, as a result of a Mafia clan war for control of the local drug business.

Hundreds of armed police reinforcements were deployed in Naples last month after a national outcry over the violence.
