NATO calls for more ground attack planes in Libya
NATO needs more high-precision attack aircraft to hit heavy weapons hidden in urban areas, the alliance chief said Thursday, amid calls from France and Britain for allies to contribute more to the mission.
"To avoid civilian casualties we need very sophisticated equipment, so we need a few more precision fighter ground-attack aircraft for air-to-ground missions," Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Berlin.
"I'm confident that nations will step up to the plate," Rasmussen added.
