More than 44 million registered to vote

PARIS, March 27, 2007 (AFP) - Around 44.5 million people have registered to vote in next month's presidential election in France, according to Interior Ministry figures published Tuesday.

PARIS, March 27, 2007 (AFP) - Around 44.5 million people have registered to vote in next month's presidential election in France, according to Interior Ministry figures published Tuesday.

Exactly 43,973,024 people have registered in France and its overseas territories, to which must be added some 535,000 who live abroad and have registered at consulates.

As before previous presidential elections, there has been a significant increase in registrations in the last 12 months, the ministry said.
