FRANKFURT, Oct 20, 2006 (AFP) - On top of the 1,000 temporary staff to be axed at jetmaker Airbus, European aerospace giant EADS is also planning to cut jobs at its headquarter sites in Munich and Paris, a report said Friday.

Of the 660 staff at the French and German headquarters, around 10 percent of the workforce will be cut, the Financial Times Deutschland said, quoting sources close to the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company.

EADS already imposed a hiring freeze at the headquarters and top management was to see its wages frozen, the paper said in its online edition.

Earlier this week, EADS said it would not renew the contracts of around 1,000 temporary staff as part of its cost-cutting measures connected with the delays in the production of its A380 superjumbo.
