Widow of late French president Francois Mitterrand protested over planned broadcast of a television documentary tracing his ambiguous record under the wartime Vichy government

PARIS, February 15, 2008 - The widow of late French president Francois
Mitterrand protested Thursday over the planned broadcast of a television
documentary tracing his ambiguous record under the wartime Vichy government.
Danielle Mitterrand, 83, said the programme -- entitled "Mitterrand at
Vichy" -- contained "major historical errors and untruths" and she accused
film-maker Serge Moati of "disloyalty".
"I reserve the right to pursue any judicial course that may seem
appropriate and shall take legal advice to that effect," she said in a
statement.
Based on a ground-breaking 1994 biography, the docudrama tells the story of
Mitterrand's initial support for the collaborationist leader Philippe Petain
and his subsequent move into the ranks of the anti-German Resistance.
