Military operation against Kadhafi in 'new phase': Cameron

The NATO military mission against Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi is entering a "new phase", British Prime Minister David Cameron said Friday after talks with allies at the G8 summit in France.

"I talked late last night with the four other countries that are taking part in the operation over the last two months, and I believe we are entering a new phase," he said.

Cameron said his decision to deploy British Apache helicopter gunships in Libya would also help the military operation to stop Kadhafi's forces killing civilians.

"There are signs that the momentum against Kadhafi is really building. The regime is on the back foot," he added.
