Man wearing Jewish skull cap attacked in France
A man wearing a Jewish skull cap was slightly wounded in an assault by two psychiatric patients in the French city of Strasbourg Friday, an attack branded anti-semitic by the Jewish community.
"It's an anti-semitic attack," said Pierre Levy, regional delegate of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions in France.
"We denounce this vile act, an act of anti-semitic violence committed in broad daylight in the centre of Strasbourg," added Strasbourg's chief Rabbi Rene Gutman.
The 41-year-old victim, who was attacked with a knife and metal bar, received hospital treatment for minor injuries, said Maud Nisand, the Strasbourg lawyer of the International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism.
The public prosecutor's office said two men had been detained.
