LONDON, June 15 (AFP) - An ultra-rare 16th century ornamental table fountain from the French Limoges school of painted enamel is to be sold at auction in Britain next month, the auctioneers said Wednesday.

The fountain, an ornately decorated vase-like structure which would have originally had water or wine pumped through it, probably using a foot pump under the table, was expected to make up to GBP 150,000 (EUR 225,000).

Only two other such table fountains are known to exist, one in a private collection in Britain and the other in the Louvre museum in Paris, according to auctioneers Sotheby's, who said they would sell the item on July 8.
