Lindsay Lohan misses LA court hearing after Cannes theft
US actress Lindsay Lohan will miss a court hearing for drunk driving after French police confirmed Thursday that she had reported her passport stolen at the Cannes film festival.
Police officials and sources close to Lohan said she had reported that the passport was stolen from her hotel room in Cannes, where she has been attending parties during the festival.
Lohan, 23, had been ordered to appear before a judge in Beverly Hills on Thursday to explain allegations that she breached the terms of her probation after her convictions in 2007 for drunk driving.
A court official in Los Angeles told AFP an arrest warrant would be issued for Lohan if she failed to show for the hearing, which was to address claims that she had failed to attend enough alcohol education classes as ordered.
Sources said the actress had tried to board a plane in Nice to return to the United States but was turned away because she did not have her passport and was urgently applying for a replacement from the US embassy in Paris.
The queen of Hollywood nights and a favorite target of the paparazzi, Lohan is a former Disney child star who was once considered one of the most promising actresses of her generation.
But her career has dipped many times since 2005 amid legal woes, stops in rehab and cinematic flops.
In 2008, the star of "The Parent Trap," "Mean Girls" and "Bobby" received two Razzie Awards, the satirical prizes presented to Hollywood's worst actors.
