PARIS, Aug 12 (AFP) - Consumer prices declined in July from June in France but showed gains in two other eurozone members, Spain and Italy, according to figures released Friday.

Prices fell 0.2 percent in France last month compared with June but were up 1.7 percent from July 2004, the national statistics institute INSEE reported.

"A sharp decline in apparel and shoe prices, reflecting summer sales, and in other manufactured goods combined with a seasonal drop in prices of fresh produce," accounted for the fall, INSEE said.

But it added that the July trend had been limited by higher oil rates and by price hikes in services linked to tourism.

In Spain consumer prices jumped 3.1 percent in July from the same month last year and were up 0.6 percent from June, according to the national statistics office.

Consumer prices in Italy were up 0.4 percent in July from June and 2.1 percent from July 2004, the statistics agency Istat reported.
