US jet leasing firm CIT Aerospace has finalised its order to buy 50 Airbus A320neo new generation medium-haul jets, Airbus said on Wednesday.

At list prices the order with the European plane maker is worth an estimated $4.6 billion (3.2 billion euros).

The announcement follows an international agreement signed by the companies at the Paris International Air Show in June.

Airbus confirmed Tuesday that it had signed a contract with the carrier Garuda Indonesia for 25 A320 jets including 10 A320neos after agreeing a deal at the air show.

The A320 is one of the world's most popular medium-haul passenger jets, and the "neo" -- or "New Engine Option" version -- has high-tech motors which it is said make it 15 percent more fuel efficient than the classic model.
