A four-year-old Indian boy visiting Paris with his parents drowned in the Seine river in central Paris at the weekend, police said Tuesday.

The family, from the southern Indian city of Bangalore, had been in the French capital for several days on a package tour holiday.

The boy, identified as Mohammed Aijaz Abubaker, was reported missing by his parents as they boarded a river boat for a sightseeing cruise late Sunday.

Maritime police found the boy's body in the Seine less than an hour later, pinned between the boat and the dock.
