MADRID - Spain's prime minister has joined the chorus of voices calling French President Nicolas Sarkozy "hyperactive", saying in an interview to be broadcast Friday that the French leader likes "to resolve problems very quickly".

"Sarkozy is one of the most active leaders that I know," Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero said according to a transcript of the lengthy interview which will be broadcast at midnight (2300 GMT) on private Spanish television station La Sexta obtained by AFP.

"You just have to be at a Council of Ministers meeting with him to see. He always wishes that debates do not last long and eagerly waits to know what we are going to say to the media," Zapatero said.

"He is hyperactive. What he wants is to resolve problems very quickly and in an intense way, and of course, he has a very positive and warm relationship with me and Spain," the Socialist prime minister added.

In an interview with AFP in April, Zapatero said he had "respect" and  "admiration" for Sarkozy, a conservative, even as he heaped praise on the Socialist candidate in the French presidential race, Segolene Royal.

Sarkozy was elected in May and was quickly dubbed "hyperactive" by the French press for the charged agenda he has followed and his frequent travels.
