Hostage-taker surrenders at BMW offices in France: police
A gunman surrendered to police after firing shots and taking hostages at the offices of automaker BMW near Paris on Monday, police said.
"An armed individual" seized the hostages at the offices in Montigny-Le-Bretonneux, west of the capital, a police official said.
Police added not long afterwards that the gunman had given himself up without violence after elite police units had been dispatched to the scene.
Radio station Europe 1 citing unnamed sources said the gunman was a former employee armed with a pump-action shotgun and had taken a receptionist and a salesman hostage.
It said he fired twice in the air but did not shoot anyone and had tried to set fire to the premises.
