Hariri murder reconstruction staged in France: mayor
A reconstruction of the 2005 assassination of Lebanon's former prime minister Rafiq Hariri was staged on Tuesday at a military camp in France, a local mayor said.
"An explosion took place at 5:00 pm (1530 GMT)," said Georges Bernard, mayor of the southwestern town of Captieux where the camp, normally used for air force training, is located.
"There were lots of security forces around the camp," he told AFP.
Hariri was killed in a massive bombing in Beirut in February 2005 along with 22 other victims. The killing was widely blamed on Syria although Damascus has denied any involvement.
An international tribunal to try suspects in the murder, based in The Hague, was set up by a UN Security Council resolution in 2007. The tribunal ordered Tuesday's reconstruction, a source close to the matter said.
