AMIENS, France, May 17 (AFP) - Three armed men stormed into a hospital in the northern French city of Amiens early Tuesday, liberating a dangerous convict who was being treated at the facility, police said.

The three men, armed with shotguns and handguns, pointed their weapons at the police officers serving as escorts to the prisoner, a 36-year-old man convicted of several armed robberies considered to be "dangerous".

The commando relieved the officers of their weapons and fled with the prisoner, who was in hospital for a leg operation. Two of the armed men were later apprehended, but the prisoner remained at large.
