Gunman takes hostages at BMW offices in France: police
A gunman fired shots and took hostages at the offices of automaker BMW near Paris on Monday, a police official and French media said.
"An armed individual" seized the hostages at the offices in Montigny-Le-Brettoneux, west of the capital, said the official at the police headquarters in Versailles. The official gave no further details.
Radio station Europe 1 citing unnamed sources said the gunman was a former employee armed with a pump-action shotgun and had taken a receptionist and a salesman hostage.
It said he fired twice in the air but did not shoot anyone and had tried to set fire to the premises.
The official said elite police units had been dispatched to the scene.
