PARIS, February 13, 2008 - Glam US rock band Kiss, known for their
trademark face paint and wild performances, mark a 35-year career with a
European tour that will kick off in the German city of Munich on May 11, the
French tour organisers said Tuesday.
The 14-concert tour, the first in Europe since 1999 and ending June 21 in
Bilbao, Spain, will also take in Italy, Serbia, Russia, Czech Republic,
Britain, The Netherlands and France.
Formed in New York City in 1973 by Gene Simmons (bass) and Paul Stanley
(rhythm guitar and vocals), the only two original members still with the band,
the group quickly rose to prominence on the strength of their extravagant
costumes, platform shoes and make-up, a look inspired by the likes of artists
Alice Cooper or the New York Dolls.
Among their most well-known numbers are "Detroit Rock City" (from
"Destroyer" in 1976), "Rock'n'Roll All Night" or the rock-disco track from
1979 "I was made for lovin' you."
