Gbagbo says will not recognise Ouattara as president
Ivory Coast's embattled ex-leader Laurent Gbagbo Tuesday rejected France's demand that he recognise his rival Alassane Ouattara as president, in an interview with France's LCI news channel.
"I do not recognise the victory of Ouattara. Why do you want me to sign this?" said Gbagbo.
France and the UN, according to Paris, want him to sign a document renouncing power in Ivory Coast and recognising Ouattara as president.
He added: "I find it absolutely astounding that the life of a country is being played like a poker game in foreign capitals."
