GDF Suez, China's CNOOC to sign natural gas delivery deal
French energy group GDF Suez is to sign a contract with Chinese oil giant CNOOC for the delivery of 2.5 million tonnes of liquified natural gas, a source close to the matter said Friday.
GDF Suez chief executive Gerard Mestrallet was to make an announcement during a press conference in Shanghai on Saturday, the source added.
The French group declined to comment on the report.
GDF is building up its presence in Asia. It announced in late September that it had reached a deal on the sale of 2.5 million tonnes of liquified natural gas to South Korean gas supplier Kogas over three years.
The contract was worth 1.0 billion dollars (720 million euros), according to press reports.
