Group of Eight foreign ministers called Tuesday for new UN measures to increase pressure on Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi to step down from power, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said.

"They also agreed that the UN Security Council should increase the pressure, including through economic measures, for Moamer Kadhafi to leave," Juppe said at the end of talks between G8 foreign ministers in Paris.
