PHNOM PENH, Jan 21 (AFP) - A Cambodian court Friday sentenced a French tourist to 15 years in jail over charges relating to sexual activities with two teenage boys.

Presiding judge Kong Seth convicted Olivier Frenoy of debauchery against children, sentencing him to 15 years in prison.

He also ordered him to pay KHR 500,000 (EUR 96, USD 125) in compensation to one of the victims.

After the sentencing, Frenoy denied the charges and said his lawyer would appeal the conviction.

Frenoy, 35, was arrested last year at a guest house with two boys aged 14 and 15 in a room containing pictures of naked children.

A 15-year-old boy present at the sentencing testified earlier in the day that the Frenchman had sexually abused him.

Cambodia has earned itself a notorious reputation as a haven for human traffickers, partly due to the country's lawlessness and culture of impunity in the wake of nearly three decades of war.
