PHNOM PENH, Aug 19 (AFP) - A Cambodian court on Thursday charged a Frenchman with sexual exploitation and illegally possessing a weapon.

Gerard Claude Dubois, 52, allegedly running a brothel in Phnom Penh, was arrested Monday at his bar.

"The Frenchman was charged with sexual exploitation and illegal possession of a gun," deputy prosecutor at Phnom Penh municipal court Nget Sarath told AFP.

Dubois faces sentences of up to 10 and three years for the two offences.

Another Frenchman was arrested in May and faced similar charges but was freed due to lack of evidence.

The sex industry targeting Westerners in Cambodia has grown dramatically over the past decade as tourism has expanded and a culture of lawlessness persists.
