The 18-year-old posted an online message implying he was about to carry out a massacre in a Paris suburb school.

PARIS – French police on Friday arrested an 18-year-old after he posted a "joke" website warning that he was about to carry out a massacre in a Paris suburb school, police said.

The dawn arrest in the Villemomble suburb came just two days after a teenage gunman killed 15 people in a rampage that began in a school in Germany.

The youth arrested in France said he had posted the warning - "In Raincy (high school) there will be blood - I have weapons" - on Thursday as a joke, police said, adding that no weapons were found at his home.

It emerged Thursday that an Internet warning ascribed to the German teenager was a fake.

But the news of the hoax did not stop police evacuating another German school on Friday after an Internet threat.

Other school shootings, including one in Germany in 2006, have been preceded by online warnings.
