French tour operators suspend Egypt trips: union
French tour operators have suspended trips to Egypt until further notice due to the violent political unrest there and are flying holidaymakers home, a top industry official said.
"We have completely stopped taking customers to Egypt. There will be no departures tomorrow (Monday) until further notice," the head of the SNAV travel agents' union Georges Colson told AFP.
The French government has warned against non-essential travel to Egypt, where several days of protests against Hosni Mubarak's regime continued on Sunday amid increasing lawlessness and a rising death toll.
Some customers "are extending their stays without incident and returns are taking place normally," Colson added. "Empty charter flights have left to pick up customers. There have been no notable incidents."
