French teen slays father with Japanese sabre: prosecutors
Police in France are holding a 17-year-old on suspicion of killing his father with a Japanese sabre, prosecutors said Wednesday.
The father -- who had not seen his son for 10 years -- was found dead on Monday in a house where the youngster has been living with foster parents in Neuville-de-Poitou, outside Poitiers in west-central France.
His thorax had been pierced by the sabre.
The youth fled the premises, then took a female motorist hostage for nearly 45 minutes. She in turn alerted police who arrested the teenager, who was to appear later Wednesday before an investigating magistrate.
