French tech firm Bull to create 1,000 jobs
French electronics group Bull bucked the grim downward trend in the jobs market on Monday, announcing a 1,000 new posts, about half of them in its home country.
Bull employs 9,000 workers around the world, including 5,000 in France, and has already added 1,000 jobs this year. In a statement on Monday it said it would recruit 1,000 more in the next 12 months.
It said it would open two business service centres in southern France and that around a quarter of the hires would be of young graduates of universities and engineering schools.
Of the 500 jobs created abroad, 150 will be in Poland and 100 in Brazil.
In common with almost all the countries of the European Union, France faces high and rising unemployment as a credit crunch driven by the eurozone sovereign debt crisis squeezes the life out of a tentative recovery.
