French prices rise 0.3pc in April

PARIS, May 13 (AFP) - French consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent in April on a monthly basis, taking the increase on a 12-month comparison to 2.1 percent, the official statistics institute INSEE reported on Thursday.

PARIS, May 13 (AFP) - French consumer prices rose by 0.3 percent in April on a monthly basis, taking the increase on a 12-month comparison to 2.1 percent, the official statistics institute INSEE reported on Thursday.

The 12-month increase to March was 1.7 percent. In April of last year prices had fallen by 0.2 percent.

Underlying inflation, excluding the effects of volatile prices, was 0.1 percent in April and 1.7 percent over 12 months from 1.6 percent in March.

On an EU harmonised basis, inflation was 0.3 percent in the month and 2.4 percent over 12 months.
