French player scoops EUR 35m in lottery

PARIS, Feb 12 (AFP) - A French lottery player was celebrating Saturday after winning the biggest jackpot of EUR 35 million (USD 45 million) in the Euromillions draw.

PARIS, Feb 12 (AFP) - A French lottery player was celebrating Saturday after winning the biggest jackpot of EUR 35 million (USD 45 million) in the Euromillions draw.

The player, who bought his or her ticket in the southern town of Marseille, was the only first-rank winner on Friday and scooped EUR 34,776,948.

The new European lottery was launched in February last year by French, Spanish and British operators la Francaise des Jeux, Loterias y Apuestas del Estado and Camelot. The previous top jackpot of over EUR 33 million was also won by a French player.
