French planes hit Libyan base in overnight raid: France
French fighter jets attacked a Libyan airbase 250 kilometres (150 miles) inland from the Mediterranean coast overnight, French military officials said Thursday.
The raid was carried out with SCALP missiles fired by Rafale and Mirage 2000-D fighter planes, Colonel Thierry Burkhard, spokesman for the French joint military forces, told a press conference.
Burkhard did not identify the exact location of the target, saying only that it was west of the zone, near the eastern city of Benghazi, in which most French airstrikes have occurred up to now.
He also refused to provide details on the damage inflicted, saying that this information was covered by a "certain degree of confidentiality."
